Description

Diggerland USA, the Ultimate Construction Adventure Theme Park is currently seeking a skilled and qualified Event Coordinator with experience in the Amusement and Entertainment Industry focusing on Groups, Birthdays, and Special Events. We love entertaining our guests and delivering an exceptional and unique fun experience. 

The ideal applicant must have excellent guest service skills with experience directing a team of party / event hosts, solving issues, providing exemplary guest service, managing food and beverage output, cooperation and integration with senior management and all other interrelated departments. Applicant must be self-motivated, a self-starter and prepared to produce results.  Applications must be at least 18 years old. This position is seasonal and part-time (hourly).

Weekend and holiday employment is a requirement for this opportunity

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees operation of the party department, including managing parties and generating sales and bookings.
  • Works with party parents to ensure total satisfaction of product.
  • Manages staff of party hosts, ensuring parties are hosted with the utmost professionalism and customer service.
  • Coordinate scheduling and operation of parties, including building schedules, scheduling staff, checking in parties, overseeing setup and breakdown of parties, while ensuring all aspects of parties are operating smoothly.
  • Works with Food & Beverage department to ensure on time delivery of party food and beverage, while maintaining the highest in quality standards.
  • Assists in generating new business and bookings for department, including creating new avenues of promoting, and conducting sales calls.
  • Responsible for inventory of party department, insuring that inventory and waste controls are followed.
  • Communicates with various vendors as needed for products, services, and pricing.
  • Conducts cash handling functions while booking and checking in parties, including Point of Sale cash registers.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, and maintaining competent and motivated party host staff.
  • Trains and instructs staff on the different processes, procedures, and customer service initiatives.
  • Responds to emails and interoffice communications.
  • Must be able to host birthday parties and perform all duties associated with the Birthday Party Host position.
  • Assists various other departments, while cooperating and coordinating with other senior managers.
  • Works with groups department to host and handle large group volume at the park.

 


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience hosting events and/or birthday parties at a family entertainment center, theme park, or entertainment venue.
  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service and service recovery to guests who may be angry, annoyed, or irate.
  • Ability to build, motivate and supervise a strong team of employees
  • Ability to accomplish objectives through others (leadership)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong understanding of budgeting and financial accounting
  • Ability to think strategically and develop "out of the box" ideas for increasing sales and controlling costs
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Available weekends and holidays based on operating schedule.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating or managing events and/or birthday parties at a family entertainment center, theme park, or entertainment venue
  • Experience with amusement POS and event management software a plus


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, reach, stretch, and climb without any difficulty
  • Able to lift and drag up to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time


WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Able to work in team environment as a team member and as team leader
  • Must work in environmental conditions that include, but not limited to outdoor environmental conditions, kitchen facility and concession environment.
